All About Our Product Limestone calcination is the process of heating limestone to a high temperature
to produce quicklime, also known as calcium oxide.
This process is carried out in a lime calcination plant, designed to convert limestone into quicklime through a series of complex chemical reactions.
The lime calcination plant process involves feeding limestone into a rotary kiln, which is heated to temperatures ranging from 900 to 1200 degrees Celsius. The intense heat causes the limestone to undergo a thermal decomposition reaction, breaking it down into its constituent parts, namely calcium oxide and carbon dioxide.
The carbon dioxide is released into the atmosphere, while the calcium oxide, or quicklime, is collected in the bottom of the kiln.
